Review:

Centigrade is a dark mystery thriller starring Vincent Piazza and Genesis Rodriguez as Matt and Naomi, a young couple (book)touring Europe for Naomi’s recent successful publication. The movie is inspired by true events that occurred in 2002 as the young couple made their way across the icy highways of Norway.

When they make the decision to pull over to the side of the road during an arctic blizzard, the couple become entrapped in a sheet of snow and ice that has buried their car. The film depicts the couple’s fight for survival, as snow continues to pile up and food/water continue to dwindle. To make matters worse, Naomi is 9 months pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Without spoiling anything too much more, I will keep things brief and say that I wasn’t a fan of this movie, and I’d recommend skipping this one. Personally, I felt like it lacked all of the qualities that make these types of low budget movies bearable. It was kind of a given that this movie was going to be a bore seeing as the entire thing is shot in a dark car and features only two cast members.

Even so, the movie could have been half-decent had the writers spent more time on the dialogue and character development seeing as they only had two characters to focus on. I don’t like to hate on movies because I appreciate the good and the bad, but this movie was Oliver Twist poor. It seemed like both characters were the same unfortunate people at the end of the movie as they were at the beginning.

Seeing as the film was so low budget, you’d think the producers would spare no expense in terms of getting the script and storyline right. Unfortunately, that just did not happen, and as a result the movie was somewhat of a dud. All things considered, I am giving Centigrade 2 measly 🍌’s.
