Review:

Buffaloed follows the story of Peg Dahl (Zoey Deutsche) as she relentlessly pursues her dream to escape the city of Buffalo. Peg is a young, bright, and ambitious thinker with a business-oriented mind and a dream.

Unfortunately for those around her, Peg’s dream involves joining the very corrupt and sketchy business industry she despises in order to put her enemy’s out of business. Peg is first turned on to the idea of opening her own debt collector business after she begins to pick up on different sales strategies that the telemarketers use when they call her family’s house.

Peg lives with her single mother and her not-so-bright older brother who gets taken advantage of by Peg’s sworn enemy “Wizz” (Jai Courtney). Fortunately, Peg has a powerful ally in Police Detective Graham Feaney (Jermaine Fowler) who she quickly forms a relationship with after he ironically prosecutes her first case, which lands her in jail in the movie’s opening.

I thought Buffaloed was a solid movie with some great replay value. I will admit I am a sucker for movies with get-rich-quick money scheme ideas. I am also a huge fan of Zoey Deutsche, who I think is very talented and I thought she really killed it playing the role of Peg.

The movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019, premiered worldwide in February 2020, and recieved consistently solid reviews. The movie earned a respectable 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, and deservedly so.

The film had a lot of dry sarcastic humor that played well to the characters and to the setting (Buffallo). There are some classic Buffalo stereotypes the movie jokingly pokes fun at, especially with respect to Bills fans that I think everyone can appreciate. Overall, I am giving Buffaloed a solid 6 out of 10🍌s.
